Occasionally when I start my 2009 FXDC 96", I get a garbled up noise and then some of those times it sound like the engine is trying to run backwards. A year ago in March, the compensator nut backed off enough that the chain would only spin in the primary. Local Independent shop tightened the nut back and new gaskets and new oil. It doesn't do the garbled up noise every time.

I haven't opened up the primary but yet but will try to open it this weekend. What should I check or look for?????????

 

Make sure the compensator has not come loose again and also make sure your chain is not to tight. You should have 5/8 to 7/8 of free play cold at the tightest spot.

Rode Today and didn't have the first bit of noise in the primary. Haven't opened it and checked it yet but I need to before Biketoberfest.
