Bolt Problem

Default Bolt Problem
I'm working on a 88 Elctra glide. I had to replace the starter solenoid. the bolt that holds the solenoid towards the front into the back of the Primary casing is stripped. This bolt does not go through the casing, just into the case itself. I have a tap and die set and thought maybe tap it to the next size higher. But this is Pot aluminum. Can you tap this stuff like steel? or will I cause more problems?

I would go with a "time sert" or a helicoil...

Helicoil if you can time-sert if the hole is too big for the helicoil.

I stripped mine about 15 yrs ago. I tapped the next size up very carefully.
