Hot Idle Noise
My brothers 05 RK I have noticed when the motor is hot and ideling I get this strange noise its like sort of a dull knock. So i took a electronic steshoscope as well as a cheapie and when all over and really did not hear anything out of the ordinary.
I listened by the cam area, also against the outside of the primary both front and back as well as the top both front back also along the base's of the jurgs and top chrome trans cover. Everything sounds good.
If I put the bike in gear and let out the clutch is seems to go away and once riding at any speed there is zero noise. I have synth in the trans if that helps.
Also took a heavy towl and isolated different areas of the motor and is seems that they noise is possibly coming from the trans.
If this helps on the old BMW air heads some of them the trans would rattle it idle and the sound would almost sound like a knock but it was the trans.
Nothing was wrong what was causing it was the power pulses of the motor it could cause the trans to make tha noise.
Woudl it be possible.
