Primary whining noise when downshifting

Add cheese, it pairs with whine well. Could help? Oh wait, wine, not whine

Never take the first reply to what is wrong. Many of us have an idea. But know one can say with certainty its this or that.
I occasionally hear some sort of a whine when I have been getting it through some curves, downshifting and what have you.
otherwise its quiet for lack of better response. May be from heat buildup? In my case.
To which, more details. All the time? When only in certain gears? Only certain RPM range? Deceleration or acceleration only?
What was $550? Give the experienced dudes in here more to chew on, they will steer you right.

Does it do it if you use brakes rather then engine to slow down? Just trying to get a complete picture.
Fixing an issue by word of mouth is extremely difficult when a dealership failed to fix it.
Hard downshifting or engine braking to slow is what they teach in bike school but I rarely do it unless people around me dictate it ..
All gears do it? If say just 4th, could be transmission.
