clutch slipping
I put a new clutch in my '96 RK about 3000 mi ago and all seemed ok, now it's starting to slip under hard excelleration in 4th or 5th gear, don't really notice it in 1st, 2nd or 3rd. It's a good Energy One clutch and up till now, no problems. Does anyone know if there is a break in peroid then I need to re-adjust? I just re-adjusted it and have not rode it yet, but I did start it up and pulled the clutch and put in in 1st gear the bike jump a little, like the clutch was grabbing?? what the ? Any help?

I don't know if this is any help; I have a 2005 Softail (FXSTI) which had a slipping clutch from the moment I bought it new. No one seemed to be able to fathom out what was wrong. One day I emptied out the primary chain case oil and measured the volume. It was 32 fluid oz (1 quart). The manual says 26 fl oz. So I put back 26 fl oz and since then it has been perfect! Too much oil is too much lubrication on the clutch plates, and so they can slip. I guess the guy who originally filled the primary chain case simply emptied a full (32 oz) bottle of oil in.

Thanks, I think you may be right about the fluid. Recently I changed the fluid and re-adjusted my clutch and all seem good it was very dark and had a lot of miles on it. Thanks, again I will double check the levels.
