1990 flhs transmission question
I recently was gifted a 1990 FLHS Electra glide sport. It has a 5 speed transmission that blew during a ride. I have six gears needing replaced 3 on main shaft 3 on countershaft. My question is what other year and model Harley has a trans that is interchangeable with my 5 speed. Im having a hard time finding a used replacement for mine. Also any suggestions on were to download a service/ repair manual or parts manual for my

Buy a genuine Harley Davidson service manual, the Clymer`s manual is a good doorstop.
Find a used gearset, any year 1990 or later will be plug and play, the newer the better.
Ideal scenario would be to find a late gearset with the roller detent shift drum setup, which improved shifting greatly.
Be careful if just replacing individual gears, do not mix up standard gears and high contact ratio gears (HCR gears came out mid `90s).
The 1990 mainshaft is an oddball 1 year part.
