Thanks. See it now. That's the hose going to the outside.

Sorta looked like somehow, it was connected to the inside of the inner cover and the transmission is on the opposite side.

Now see it's on the outside of the primary

Part of my confusion was I didn't see that on the early M8 fish when they first appeared in 2016 on the Tour models. Assuming the primary shared and used the transmission vent hose accessing it thru the hollow input shaft like the TC does.

Not until 2020 does Harley show it in the fish on the M8

Kept reading on here about oil transfers between the three areas and a retrofit of a external vent on the primary.

Did it take Harley 4 years to correct an issue with their vent system?

Hey, my Airframe and Powerplant schooling finally paid off...
Thanks for the insight.

I was curious to know if it’s actually needed. I’ve heard others saying to leave it out.

I thought it had to have a purpose, so I decided to put it back (hence question for torque spec).

Also I’m using red loctite as I definitely do not want it to come loose, but I’ve heard others saying to use blue loctite. I don’t plan on removing it again so it should be fine using red loctite, correct?

You can still get red Loctite undone if you need to, just takes a little extra work and/or maybe heat. Just don't use JB Weld, lol.....

The only place you need to use red Loctite on is the compensator bolt.

Blue is all you need.

Have you been hearing of these things falling off? No.
