Primary/Transmission/Driveline/ClutchFind answers to general powertrain, primary and transmission. Have clutch issues and need suggestions? Post them here.
I have serious problems in finding neutral when the engine is running, but when it is not running I can easily find neutral. What could be the reason for this situation, any suggestions will be appreciated.
Usually caused from clutch drag as in not releasing enough or primary oil too thick for cold conditions. This lightens the toe pressure on the shifter and hopefully it won't go past nuetral. Ron
you may think this sounds crazy, but when I changed the shifter pegs on my bike from the stock round rubber barrel type to the flat type (I think its the Aeros), I was amazed how easily I was getting it into neutral. The only thing I could figure was the flat shape gave me a little more precision??
Try giving her a little punch of gas
on the decel you should be able to pop into neutral.
After a few times you'll find just how little gas you have to give.
I have a barnett clutch on my heritage springer and while running
it likesto play the (Neutral: TRY AND FIND ME !!) game
No prob once you find the tickle spot
I would think that the clutch is not adjusted right or that the primary chain tension is not adjusted right. ? Depends on what year bike it is? Newer models should auto adjust the primary. Also make sure that your linkages and peg are all tight. Any slop just gets worse as it goes down the line.
