tranny drive sprocket removal
Hey, I am new to the forum, hopefully I am posting correctly. I have a 2000 Road Glide. I am wanting to change the primary drive spocket from a 32 tooth to 34. Question is, how do I break the nut loose on the sprocket. I know it has to be loosed clock wise. What has anybody used to get over the shaft and onto the nut? Do you have to buy a special socket?? Did what to have to do that when I would only use it once.Thanks for any suggestions.

I just did a pictorial & how to yesterday. I took the pictures & I did the same thing. Before you start make sure that you have the 34 tooth with the lip. A person sold me a Mid-West 34 and I had to do some thinking on that one. The reason why the MOCO did away with this design is because it is weak. Here is what I am talking about. If this pulley is what you have, call me & I'll give you the P/N # that you'll need. Look closely at the photo of the inside of the pulley. The 32 has the built in spacer the 1993 & below does not. Yes it will fit on but you need a spacer that is longer than you need a new trans main seal. The spacer on the 1993> is thinner and less stable under load.

I have a 1992 heritage,I took a ride this week end,went about 150 miles with no problems,stop at light shift into 1st went to go and all i got was a noise from the primary case same noise in all gears will not go no were,do you think this might be my primary sprocket.

I have not torn it down yet,but have visually look at drive chain ,clutch sprocket,compensator ,belt,teeth on front drive sprocket,and all looks good, put on jack stand and started and went in gear fine ,put foot on tire to create pressure and would stop turnning with a groulling noise like maybe the spine on shaft or pulley is stripped,i guess i will find out when I tear it down.
