Primary/Transmission/Driveline/ClutchFind answers to general powertrain, primary and transmission. Have clutch issues and need suggestions? Post them here.
In the process of doing the 5000 mile service on my 2007 Street Bob, I adjusted the drive belt to H.D. spec 1/4"-5/16" on jiffy stand. went for a test ride and noticed a bad vibration, re adjusted and another test ride, seemed to be OK but after a few miles the vibration was back and got worse when leaning into curves. the vibration goes away when the clutch is in or when the bike is cold, bike gets hot the vibration is back. \\;could this be \\;a misaligned belt or something else?
Have you recently added something to your bike?If so check there first.Check all mounts and rest of bike for something loose. If nothing is found take bike to dealer for them to see if it was something you missed and have the runout checked.
I have found that the belt being too tight can cause excessive vibration (but it's supposed to be less prone to breaking when it's tight..).
When you adjusted your drive belt did you loosen the front motor mounts? There is a thread somewhere about the proper way to tighten the motor mounts on a dyna without collapsing the rubber (and introducing more vibration).
I don't think the bags are the problem, it's in the belt tension and motor mount tightness.
