Default 84 evo flhtc clutch question

I have had this bike about a year now and the clutch has never been quite right. It worked so I left it alone but it engaged with a, I don't know, best discription would be "shudder". I figured it was time so I removed the primary cover to check things out and found oddness. As near as I can tell a dry clutch hub with a diaphragm spring. 6 friction plates, 5 steel, one of which is way newer than the rest. Friction plates measure .162 evenly on all six. They are the plates with 10 round drive holes in them.Steel plates measure .110 but for the new one which is .120. there is a aluminum hub in the center with 3 self locking nuts holding it on with the diaphragm spring behind it. Question, how should this be adjusted and why won't engage smoothly? And what brand is it? If it is even close to OEM shouldn't it have 10 coil springs?

That looks like the Talon (tm) set up Jireh cycles p/n 96-869 I would go back to the 10 spring set up that ran from 1941 thru 1984 won't cost that much and a better system

Default Found a picture and Yup that's what it looks like

When I had the whole thing apart the friction disks looked like wet or dry ones so I soaked them in car ATF. and so far, about 60 miles, the thing works perfect. No slipping and smooooth Now if it stays that way I be Happy
