Primary/Transmission/Driveline/ClutchFind answers to general powertrain, primary and transmission. Have clutch issues and need suggestions? Post them here.
Clutch nut is lefthand it a special and requires a 30mm wrench (I think), but I got by with a 1 3/16. The pulley nut is RIGHT hand thread requires a 2 1/4 deep socket(like 6" deep).
Basically the original units spring pressure is not strong enough, so it ends up making a knocking noise upon startup and during lugging.
The problem I am running into is I cant seem to find out were to get a 32t or 30t sproket for the engine primary, nor has anyone told me were to get it from. I dont want to change the sproket on the belt drive cause it will through off the speedo I would presume.
A screamin eagle compensator will come with a new gear, that's part of the set, I don't know who sells just a gear that will fit, seems like evolution does or something I've stumbled across with a new chain too.
Majority of guys go the transmission pulley route, with a 30tooth pulley from andrews or the hub on your back tire, can be changed out too, but yes you will have a difference in speedo readings, you can get a device to correct for speedo readings though, speedo healer, dakota digital, even a tts tuner has a calibration function in it, so it can be worked around. Seems like the different gear on the crank means your messing with the rpms of the motor which might mean more stress, on the crank, and I'm guessing that's why most guys don't go that route, just a guess, not sure.
