Drivetrain project help needed
Could really use some help. I have a 1988 FLHTC that I am working on for a project. I took the whole bike apart and tossed just about everything. After getting frame back from powder coating I put a 1996 96ci evo motor in then bought a fully polished Revtech 5 speed tranny part #58306 which stated would fit from 83 to 98 FLH & FLT. The tranny fits but my problem is I had a tappered shaft on original tranny and this new tranny has the straight spline shaft used on either 89 or 90 up. I do not want to swap out the pinion shaft only because parts are very hard to come by for 85 to 88 like the inner primary,starter and so on. Can I use an inner primary from 90 to 98 along with a starter, clutch pack to complete my project as parts are alot more easy to come by?
