My question is not power or whats new in the engine but rather what is NEW compared to each other on how it mounts. I am in the process of building a bobber using a HD 883 Sportster engine with a Kraft Tech 15100 frame. All the frames that I have seen are for 2003 and older engines. I have found a really good deal on a newer style HD Sportster engine 2010-2011 and I really want to use it.
What I want to know is what is the difference in the mounting of the 2003 and prior compared to the "newer" engines? I would like to be able to mount the engine cause I dont have easy access to a fabricator I can trust. I would really like to use the newer engine cause the price is in my budget. Most of the 2003 and older engines guys in my area want WAY too much or has a crap load of miles.
Any help that anyone can give me would be very much appreciated.
Not a Sporty guy but I believe 2004, the mounting was changed to a rubber mounted engine. Whether or not that changed anything on the cases, I can't say. Probably get some reliable feedback if you post this on the Sportster section of the forum.
