shovelhead transmission
I have a 1975 shovelhead with a 4 speed tranny i rode for a whille today came home and the kickstart was inactive when i tried to crank it again i took the cover off and looked it looks to me like the gears arent coming together to spin when i kick it. i am not a mechanic but can figure stuff out most of the time i just dont want to do anymore damage. can anyone help?

Sounds like either the key moved and is keeping the sliding gear away from the fixed gear or the sliding gear is to tight on the main shaft. The other possibility is the sliding gear has moved in exposing the bushing to the fixed gear and will not let the two come together. there are a couple of ideas. those are the most common I have run into.
