Default Twin Cam upgrade compatibility question

I have a '99 RoadKing Classic and a friend just purchased a new '07 Classic and upgrading to the 110CI kit right out of the shoot. My twin cam 88 has 50k miles on it and I'm considering purchasing his original twin cam 96 parts for an upgrade. Basically a Big Bore kit for my bike with his parts. Are the jugs, pistons, heads between these two model years compatible?

Thanks.

I don't think you would gain anything unless you changed the flywheels. I'm sure one of the online techs. can tell you better, but that's my understanding.

The 96 inch got it's extra inches from a stroker kit. The jugs are the same bore as the 88 inch motor.
