Default SuperVisor

I heard about this product called a "SuperVisor". It's a visor that attaches to a full face helmet. http://www.whitehorsepress.com/produ...82e4d3dfe0ca7c

I live west of where I work. So I ride into the sun both morning and evening. A visor would really be nice. So I bought one.

It comes with the visor, four stick on atachement tabs, double sided tape, and some surface prep solution. One of the plastic clips was broken, so I could only use three. I followed the directions, and stuck the visor in place.

The next morning I rode to work. I thought, "This is really nice"! really blocked a lot of glare, and didn't limit visibilty.

It's only a 6 mile ride on city streets. Halfway to work, the visor flew off, taking all three plastic clips with it. I didn't bother to stop and pick it up. Complete waste of money.

I'll buy another helmet sun blocker strip. That works really well.

I could tell you that was going to happen before I even finished reading this. That's why you never wear a dirt bike helmet on the road -- the visor will try and tear your head off. In this case, your visor was weaker than your head, so it came off instead.

One of the tips that I picked up frombuddy who's a Wing rider for blocking the sun on a full facewas the simple and inexpensive use of electrician's tape. All you need is about 2 strips applied in rows at the top of the face shield and there you go. It's cheap and easy and easy to replace, although in over3 years of riding with it on the face shield, it's never come off. I do the same thing with the face shield for my HJC AC3.

Or you can just buy the Dark Smoke shield that HJC makes seeing as it doesn't block your vision and pose a safety hazard like electrician's tape does...

A dark shield is only good in daylight. At dusk, after dark, in shadowy areas, it is like driving blind. I've taken chances with mine for years. It's best to have a clear shield with you.
Then there is the Nolan helmets with a flip up panel that covers the top part of the clear shield, and can be left on the helmet when not in use. Kinda like sunglasses. I like mine.

I'v used the electricians tape for years. That works pretty good. But the Sun Blocker actually works a lot better. It's a dark green tint that really blocks the direct rays of the sun, but doesn't completly block vision like the electrical tape does.

I have a full face helmet, with a lightly tinted shield, and I wear prescription glasses that darken in sunlight.
Even with all that, I use a couple of strips of black electrician's tape. [sm=WTFsgign.gif]

I'm going to try the Sunblocker, in place of the tape. Thanks for the tip.

Oh yeah, for sure. I've ridden a few times with my dark shield on at dusk, and it was dark for the second half of the trip. It's impossible to see anything -- I was riding via the reflection of the lines on the road...
