Hate to rain on your parade, but there's a good chance that you rendered the helmet worthless for safety purposes. Helmets are made for one crash or hard drop. That's why you should never leave your helmet sitting on your seat. IF wind or a person knocks it off, you could render a very expensive helmet worthless. The material the helmet is what absorbs the shock and once it is compressed, it is just like wearng only hard plastic or whatever on your head. It will prevent road rash to the top of your head, but no protection for the stuff inside your head.
Sorry, don't mean to be a party-pooper and you certainly have the right to wear whatever you want. DOT approved or not, I just wanted to make sure you understood how helmets work.
Personally, I wear a 3/4 Shoei in the summer and a full face, flip-up Nolan for colder weather. If I was totally concerned about safety only, I'd wear the full face all of the time. Since I hardly ever take a passenger, but just in case, I bought a 3/4 DOT approved for a passenger. It was $22 from Jafrum. They also have some very good prices on half helmets. Art

ORIGINAL: k23rd

I have a NXT half shell, as does my wife, She does not like it as it feels like it is blowing around on her head. Mine is fine after I reshaped the inside with a rubber mallet. They are more round than oblong. Now it works fine and I like the clip chin strap.

Aside from scratching it up, a fall from the seat of you bike to the ground won't ruin any DOT approved lid I've ever seen. Unless your keeping something awfully heavy inside.

Hi,

Art's right.....even though the helmet may look okay, it is in fact only designed to take ONE impact, and falling off of the bike is considered one! I believe DOT says anything higher than 2 feet, but not sure......

NXT half lid? Been using one for 2 years now, and I love it! I wear a bandana under it, and it keeps it clean, and is more comfortable.

Mine is black with old school orange/yellow flames.
