Default Rain Gear Selection

Hi
As newbie am looking for some decent rain gear. Ive done the search and see only HD and Frog Toggs. I have a good gore-tex top that I paddle in but wonder if it would hold up to rain at driving speeds or rain would eventually work its way in the little holes. I know the rubberized commercial fishing gear is totally waterproof but I think I I'd end up sweating like a porker?
Just looking for some general recommendations on biking rain gear. Any help would be appreciated.
Fred

Get the best that you can afford. HD stuff is good, and made specifcally for riding. It's waterproof, lined to keep you from sweating, and packs very compact. Most good HD stuff runs from 120 to as high as 200+. The stuff I got several years ago was 165 for the pants and jacket, but I haven't been wet or burned a hole in a leg and left plastic on my pipes since.

Regards,

Bill

Thanks. I went out to the Yamaha store near work at lunch time just to look around. (I know, I know but I was just looking, and its just up the road). Also looked at one-piece. Seem like good coverage but was a pain to get on!. I dont mind eventually getting the HD stuff, just thought maybe there's something out there just as good. Thanks

I use Frog Toggs. They're inexpensive and pack small.

That's another good thing about the HD stuff. The pants have full length zippers in the legs, so on and off is a snap, even over chaps, plus they have stirrups, so they don't ride up..

Regards,

Bill

Motorcycle Cruiser Magazine has a web site where they list all of their product reviews. I was just reading on there last night a couple of reviews on rain gear. Don't know from what year it was and they didn't cover Frogg Toggs. The best thing in the review was the "pros and Cons" section at the end of each product. It gives you really good advice about what to look for in raingear and what to look out for. Also gave a list of sites for each product.
Concerning the GoreTex jacket you now have...they were very high on GoreTex...except that it was very pricey.
They also had a nice review of waterproof boots. Real torture tests they put them through. Not a Harley site, but lots of good valuable info there.

I bought the Tour Master two piece a couple of years back before my first long trip and it's kept me dry in all types of wet weather since then. You do have to remove your boots to get into them though. The primary thing to watch for in getting a suit is velcro'd sleeves and neck.

I just dropped 8 bills on a new motorcycle suit and it's supposed to be quite waterproof. I'll find out for sure as it'll be here in a day or two.

You might pop out to Motorcycle Gear Review. I don't know if they have the Harley suit though.

It's mainly for the other bike. At 150+mph it's nice to have gear that'll handle a mile or two of sliding [] not that it'll do anything for the sudden stops.
