I to used the Kreme product for my new tank. It did seem a bit trouble some. But I suppose as long as the product works it will be worth all the trouble. I don't know of any other products out there that are easier.

Yamaha has a two part system for cleaning tanks, which includes rust remover, and neutralizer. It work well unless you have a tank with rust holes in it, then the kreme works best. That stuff is time consuming and is best to work with it, when you are doing something else, so you can come back to it periodically while working the creme to line the tank.

I used a sealer that came from a company called Aircraft Spruce (The supply items for all types of airplanes). It was a "Slosh" compound- which totally sealed all interior tank surfaces. I think their site is http://www.aircraftspruce.com . I looked at their current site- couldn't find the 1 quart can of stuff we used.
