Well it's official. I got the email last night. I did my IBA and it was certified. I left at 0:29 from Fort McMurray, AB and rode 17h36m to Marysville, Wa. My Odometer was a little light, so I did another small leg to Burlington Wa. Where I was going anyhow. All in all it was a great ride, and I felt really good at the end of it.
Next is the 1500 mi Ride, but for now, I'll enjoy my 1000 mi.
If you want to do it, you need time, cash, and be well slept. I wouldn't wanna try it sick, nor under the weather. I did go for the occasional coffee and red bull. But I got it regardless.
I guess an interstate road would be 'quicker' but I chose a road I've been on a lot.

how do you get it certified. i left blooming ton, MN on Aug 12th at 0515 and pulled into my garage at 0255 Aug 13th 20:40 and 1196 miles. i was behind a front, temps had dropped to low 80s with great dew points and the tail end of the super moon. very good night driving. every time i stopped south of fort Campbell, KY i thought i would get a room and the i thought how nice it was and just kept going. congrats on your ride. mine just got to be "can i do it at 57 and am i ok doing it"

Sorry pic. I am workin nights and was sleeping when you posted.
The devil is in the details. Read the rules. Get a good sleep. And the witness form can be done by your wife or someone close.
The first gas receipt and last is critical. The i between ones are too if you're taking a longer leg to increase mileage as opposed to the quickest route
My ride was the quickest route on Google maps. I could have also kept a GPS trip log and submitted it too. But I didn't reset the GPS. Oops.
Anyhow there is a Canadian coast to coast Vancouver to Halifax ride is like to try. 90 hours. 75 for extreme. It's great to just do the ride but certification makes it 100%.
Congrats! Go ahead and do a few more to get it out of your system then slow down and take your time, you know " smell the roses ". Isn't that why you bought a bike in the first place? FT
