Florida road trip complete
My wife and I just returned home from a week trip to Florida. We left last Friday and departed upstate of SC and drove nonstop to Tampa FL. While there we toured around and visited Tampa HD and also Newport Richie, which was one of our favorites. We then went east to Orlando where we spent a few nights and visited the dealers there. We then left there and drove over to Cocoa Beach from which we drove up the coast to Jacksonville. We spent a couple more nights there and then left yesterday morning to come back home. We made it back home in the pouring rain and when we pulled into the garage we had done 1675 miles on the trip. Had no issues and the Street Glide served us well. We tried to take some pics along the way and I'll see if I can post some in the days to come.
I'm happy you got a chance to take a ride. Sure wish I could have done that myself. Sounds like a good one. So what was the weather like on this trip? other than the rain on the way home, we got that. I'm sure Florida may have been nice, but I would think that you left in the cold and came back in the cold.
Starting out in SC on the 26th, we left in 30 degree weather around 8 AM. But a couple hours into it, it began to heat up and the sun felt great. Got to Tampa that night and it was in the high 60s. The next 3 days were in the upper 70's/lower 80s, which was awesome riding weather as you probably know. But starting Tuesday the 30th, it rained in Orlando and all the way until we reached Jacksonville on the 31st. The temp on the way home wasn't bad as it started in the 50s, got into the 60s and then started to drop once we headed north and was in the 40s with rain once we reached home. But honestly we did great with the changes of temps and just tried to pack accordingly. Had to buy one extra bag while in Daytona at J&P to attach to the top of our large piece of luggage on the rack to give us a little extra space.
