Realize the rally is not just about the town of Sturgis. This thing is spread out over a lot of South Dakota and even Wyoming. I wouldn't be afraid of 1 million bikers over that entire territory. Most people who go spend time in Sturgis at night to party at the bars downtown or at Full Throttle or the Chip. The majority of the time should be spent riding the country side and the Black Hills. Going over to Devils Tower in Wyoming. Stopping in the little town of Hulett, WY on the way to Devils Tower. I suggest Wed for what they call pantieless Wed. Then on the way back toward Sturgis hit up Sundance, WY (Home of the Sundance Kid) for the burn out contest. There is so much riding to do and sites to see that one or two nights partying downtown is enough because the rest of your schedule will be full. Trust me you and your bike won't melt.
LOL, Exactly what my buddy Jeff says, and he only been there twice. His bud says he has the whole back seat left in his truck, tight fit for my long legs. I just might be there if I know I'll have about 700 to 1K in my wallet. He climes three of us would be one full up a piece there and back in his truck. Maybe.

A Buddy has offered me a spot on the trailer, but I said no thanks. If I go again I'm riding again. I'll probably decide at the last minute if I do go, but then I might have trouble finding a place to stay. Hell, I may even go a week early to beat the crowd. Spend a couple days there, get the shirt, and go somewhere else.

I didn't overheat on Lazelle St. in 2013, but it wasn't 100 degrees, either. If you get up early getting throught town isn't bad till about 10:00 am anyway.

I've been twice(2009-2010). The first time was with two bud's and we trailered because we didn't have a lot of time. Stayed at the Fish-N-Fry campground, slept in a tent and had a great time. It was said it was the most fun three grown men could have and not get arrested, I'm not sure who the grown men were tho. The second time they brought their wives and we went in a motor home. That changed the dynamic of the trip, ALOT. Two women can upset the apple cart for me when I'm not sleeping with one of them. We stayed at the Shade Valley CG. Nice place, and we even cooked a pastalaya for the people at the campground to bring a little bit of South La. to them. This year I am riding my 14 SG, I can't wait. We have a room in Rapid City. I have a co-worker that just bought a Road Glide and he is going with me. I can't wait. Maybe as it gets closer I can get some info on some of you guys and we can meet up somewhere for a beer.

...no worries guys outa that 1 million supposedly going at least 60% of em will back out. In my experience out there one mostly only sits in traffic if one chooses to...there is ALOT of wide open space out there. Lazelle Street is a very minor part of the attraction of a Sturgis trip.

If you haven't been to Sturgis, try the Stone House Saloon on your way to/from Devil's Tower. Really cool place and the beer is cold!
