One more thing. If you rely on google or a gps, it will tell you to take 101 south from San Francisco to start your ride from SF to Monterey. Instead, take 280 south to 85 and then into 101 which you pick up south of San Jose. 101 is the old road along the coast of the bay and is full of trucks, etc. between San Francisco and San Jose. 280 is what locals sometimes call our "zen" freeway. It is a beautiful road with no trucks and is at the base of the coastal mountains. Definitely the nicer road for riding south from San Francisco.
We did PCH last year from San Fransisco to LA my personal opinion is you take 101 south from San Fransisco to Monterey then take PCH all the way down much better. We did San Fransisco to LA all the way on PCH it was waste of time until you get to Monterey, South of Monterey was worth the ride. Have safe ride
Mesa Verde National Park
Chaco Canyon (rough roads for a bike, though)
Wendover airport -- museum; the B-29's trained here for Hiroshima/Nagasaki
SAC museum -- near Lincoln, NE
Vedauwoo -- between Laramie and Cheyenne
Thanks cficole. Was planning on a night in Wendover. Museum there is definitely a possibility. Have done SAC near Lincoln. Pretty cool.
Anyone have suggestion for an area to stay in Flagstaff? Food suggestions?
Will be spending some extra time there as we are considering relocating there in a few years.
