Also north and west of Republic search a little town called Molson WA. Its a well preserved ghost town that is a blast to walk through. It is like standing in the late 1800's. I'd be glad to show ya around my back yard and some of the cool sights around Lake Roosevelt and the Columbia River. Maybe come up this way as you leave and see here for a day then go to some of the good stuff in lower BC. Shoot me a message if you want to chat more. Good luck. EW
Eric, great suggestions. That whole NE quadrant of WA is excellent riding. Is that road to Molson paved? Also, years ago sold my red '84 Softail to a guy in Kettle Falls. Is that you ?

If you look on Google maps search Curlew to Chesaw. The road is Toroda Creek . When it turns off headed to Chesaw you are on a paved Forest Service road (NFS 9480/Chsaw Rd). Going to Chesaw takes you by Beth Lakes. This string of lakes sits in the valley of some deep mountain canyons and they are awesome. Chesaw has a great little bar, country store, and gas. They hold a huge rodeo there on July 4th. Its a great stop. From Chesaw you are paved all the way for another 30 minutes or so to Molson. From Molson you can backtrack for dinner to Bonapart lake as listed below or carry on to Oroville or Tonasket. Tonasket has some great Mexican at the north end of town on 97. If you go to Tonasket you can gas up there then take 20 back to Republic and hit a little stop called Orondo. It's the only privately owned city in Washington and the new owners bought if off e-bay a couple years back. They are bikers and its a great stop as well.

Another great option is just past Beth lake and before Beaver lake you can take a left on paved road NF-32/Bonapart Lake. It will take you through the forest westward and the best prime rib in the country is at the little place at Bonapart Lake. You can then keep going west (3240) to hook back up with Hwy 20.

Wasn't me on the softail but I have lived here all my life. There is a guy named Randy that has one of about that vintage. He owned a tire/repair shop. Let me know if ya come this way and I'll show ya that loop. EW

Thanks for that great information. It's been a long time since I've ridden that area west of Kettle Falls. Will be first on my list when the weather breaks here in Coeur d'Alene in a few weeks.

EricW's recommendation is a good one, especially the "Flowery Trail" part.

I agree that Sandpoint should not be overlooked

We had the state HOG rally here last summer, and they had a bunch of local (Spokane) area rides mapped out, complete with distance and time estimate. The dealership should still have all those ride maps if you wanted to stop in at Lone Wolf HD. It is right by I 90, just East of the Barker road exit, on the North side of the freeway.
