I have included Hells Canyon on my itinerary this year. I will be heading south from Clarkston WA to the Enterprise/Joseph OR area. I am seeking info on route 39 to Imnaha and route 3955 south. Anyone have any information on road conditions, canyon overlooks, restaurants, gas stations etc.?
the best part of our trip was Joseph area the lake is incredible we also took the old tram to the top and the views we nothing but amazing (wish we would spent the night there)
make sure to take Lolo pass to get there and if your in orofino stay at the http://www.konkolvillemotel.com/ and get the steak dinner......
Stayed at the Konkolville and I felt like my best friend's dad was always watching us. Totally weird . They were 6 of us and we all thought the same.
We were relaxing on the patio at 9.45 pm enjoying a beverage and the owner comes by and says it's quiet time now. Really? There was only 9 people there.
Every time I turned around there he was .
I will not stay there . Too weird!

We stay in Baker City at Oregon Trails Motel. It's old but clean and cheap with a pool and a restaurant in front. Just two blocks to downtown.
From there riding in the Doughnut Hole between Hwy 97 to the west ,26 to the south and 84 to the north is spectacular
The passes on Hwy 7 out of Baker City are great . Into John Day and up 19 into the Fossil Beds to spray , Fossil and Condon. Awesome riding . few cars and great roads. Watch out the little towns around there shut down on Sundays. Check on gas.
