I would pick out the Nat'l Parks that interest me and then connect them with scenic routes (the word "pass" is a bonus). Ask locals along the way for must see locations.

Default you didn't ask for this, but …..

This is not a where to visit response, but here is my list of 'travel items' that you should consider:
First, start at the bottom: your tires. Put some http://www.ride-on.com in your tires. They both balance and seal better than that green slime chit. And also carry with you a tire repair kit (I use the HD compressor http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...sor-with-light a valve stem extension http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...stem-extension and a plug kit (I have fixed several tires this way.. but never my own.. https://www.denniskirk.com/stop-and-...prd/283537.skuI also carry a can of 'fix-a-flat' for the cagers.
Next; extra fuel; two liters, in two one liter bottles
Amazon.com : Primus Fuel Bottle : Empty Camping Stove Fuel Bottles : Sports & Outdoors Amazon.com : Primus Fuel Bottle : Empty Camping Stove Fuel Bottles : Sports & Outdoors
Seems like a lot, but it isn't. Oh, and don't forget 3/8 or 1/4 sockets and a ratchet.. and a Gerber multi-tool … a pair of electrical scissors
Jonard ES-1964ERG Carbon Steel Ergonomic Electrician Scissor, For Heavy Duty Use: Wire Cutters: Amazon.com: Home Improvement Jonard ES-1964ERG Carbon Steel Ergonomic Electrician Scissor, For Heavy Duty Use: Wire Cutters: Amazon.com: Home Improvement
20ft of para-cord; a temp-gun (only in the heat)
Amazon.com: Etekcity Lasergrip 1080 (ETC 8550) Digital Infrared Thermometer range -58F to 1022F,12:1 D:S,Non-contact, Instant-read Laser Temperature Gun, FDA/FCC/CE/ROHS Approved: Kitchen & Dining Amazon.com: Etekcity Lasergrip 1080 (ETC 8550) Digital Infrared Thermometer range -58F to 1022F,12:1 D:S,Non-contact, Instant-read Laser Temperature Gun, FDA/FCC/CE/ROHS Approved: Kitchen & Dining
and Amex with Allstate taking care of any roadside assistance… (I think that should about cover it; and yes, it does take up all my swing arm tool-bag and a bit more in the saddlebags (x-tra fuel, rope, oil, and fix-a-flat). But when I go 'for a ride' it's for more than a week… at least..
