Talking Laughlin 2015

Going to Laughlin from CA next week. I'm looking to check out other things besides the giant flea market called a rally. I'm looking for input. Would like to check out a ghost town maybe or just a cool ride through the hills. Can you help a brutha out?

I don't know which way you're going, but we just did the Joshua Tree park from Indio/Mecca Ca up to 29 Plams and it was freaking AWESOME! If you can tie it into your route somehow, it's worth the ride. Too bad its a **** hole everywhere around other than that.

If you're transiting the Southern Sierras, I might suggest Highway 155 leading east out of Delano. It takes you over Lake Isabella. Just an option to 58 East bound. It'll add time to your ride as it's quite twisty. As you ride, it takes you to the southern tip of Isabella where you can pick up 178 east bound into Ridgecrest. Once you get to the Eastern Sierras, its all desert, so your route won't look any different either way you go. But if you continue East on 178 to 190 and further east to 127 then south towards 15 and east again to 164 and 95 into Bullhead, you will have covered just about all of the desert anyone finds interesting.

That route shows about 10 hours of riding. Besides seeing Lake Isabella, you'll ride past China Lake Weapons station, Pinnacles, Stove Pipe Wells, Furnace Creek, A Solar Concentrator electric station, then into Laughlin.

Thats all I got! Lots of fast riding though as well

Default Saturday ride from Las Vegas RT

All went well in morning ride to Laughlin.

Weather was good til late afternoon then the skies opened up.

Throttled out of Laughlin round 5 when skies looked clear.

Made it to Searchlight with little breezy gusts.

Then...all hell opened up before 95 Junction to Boulder City/Las Vegas...i believe there were about 12 of us catching cover from over pass...but nothing was letting up so 25 mins i arrived at home.

Wow...what a trip home...priceless memories for me and my wife

Made the 3,380 mile round trip in 6 days on my mini Road King(aka XL1200T).

Every day throughout the desert SW was cold, wet and winds ranging from strong to brutal.

This was my seventh year. Not near as many riders there as previous years. It seems like fewer each year. Decided to leave at about 2 PM Sat. Good idea as by 4 pm there was heavy rain causing minor flooding according to my son who was going to stay the day.

I was 6'3" 200 lbs when I started out the ride. When I got home I was 6'2" and 195 lbs. That ride of 647 miles per day in cold, wet and windy days wore this 74 year old rider out. The good part is thst I fit the Sporty better at the end.

The worn out dirty 1200T at the end.
