I went in June and had a blast. I rode all the way, took a day and a half from Mass. I went to Cape Breton and stayed at a campground near Baddeck. Of course, the Cabot Trail is a must do. There are also several other scenic routes that you can take, they are very well marked. http://cabottrailbiker.com/ has some more info as well as http://www.cbisland.com/ . I didn't do much riding in the rest of Nova Scotia so can't be of much help.

Thanks for posting Smith and thanks Bladerun. I'm heading there myself next week. I'm trying to determine if (and if I should, from where) I should buy a Provincial park pass? Figuring on 5 days or so in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

I bought a pass to the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. It was maybe $10 Canadian. I don't think you are required to buy it, but I did. The lady at the gate/ticket window mentioned Neil's Harbor and how to get there. It's a small fishing village with some great views. There's also a restaurant tho I didn't eat there. Wouldn't have gone there unless she mentioned it. Have a blast!

Halifax is a great pub town; streets can be steep. Best scallops anywhere in Digby. Do Cape Breton counter-clockwise (coast on your right) so you can pull over easy and fast; you'll also find it's not all coastal views. Glenora distillery also on Cape Breton; very distinctive whisky. Sydney coal mine tour is a real eye opener; will never forget that. Grohmann Knives in Pictou will sell you a great souvenir. Lunenberg is real pretty; a bit tourist heavy.
You can ferry from Digby to St John, then ride the bridge across to PEI, ride across PEI and ferry back to Pictou...there's much more depending on what your interests are...

Do the Cabot Trail both directions. Amazing how many views you miss just doing it one way.

At the northern part of the trail, take the road out to Meat Cove. Not paved but smooth enough for a HD to make the trek. You can have lunch and a beer with one heck of an amazing view. They also having camping out there if that is your inclination. Not mention, you went to a place called Meat Cove.
