Day 7= Salida to home. Said goodbye to a lot of great friends and jetted home over La Manga Pass and Cumbres Pass.

Looks like a great time. What kind of temperatures were at the mountain passes? I am trying to do most of these same rides the second week of September, but it looks like some folks were cold in the photos.

Trying to figure out what kind of clothing will be needed that time of year.

Bring cold weather gear: long underwear, sweatshirts, chaps if you wear them. Possibility of snow at that time of year is great. We already had snow at the Eisenhower Tunnel last week, and snow is possible in the next few days at Rocky Mountain NP/Trail Ridge Road.

No kidding? We are pushing 100F every day here, I may need to re-evaluate my travel plans. I am not really interested in snow riding, especially when it will only be September.

Top of Mt. Evans was 39 or 40. Top of Pikes Peak was about the same. We were up there pretty early around 10:00 am. Everything above 8,000 ft. was too cool for t shirts for most of the group and a lot lf them wore chaps, and there was rain and sometimes hail every afternoon.

In September you could get even cooler and have more rain. You will need rainsuits, layers, and chaps if you want to be comfortable. You don't need a helmet in Colorado, but I would strongly recommend a helmet with a full face shield for the rain and hail. I use a half helmet with a flipdown snap on face shield. Many of the group had full face helmets.

Nice trip and pictures. A friend and I are winding down a two week trip in CO. We will ride the San Juan Loop today and then probably head home. We crossed Trail Ridge one morning early, eight or so, and it was pretty cold.
