A group from MI will be exploring PA and upstate New York. Where should we have base camp so to speak for 4-5 days of riding and returning to?

We would like food/adult beverages within walking of lodging.

If anyone could make a suggestion as to routes and or lodging please do.

Thanks.

If after Labor day, I'd pass through PA. and set up around Tupper lake, Lake Placid or Lake George. Anyone will have bunches of places to stay within walking distance of really nice bars etc. Day tours to Vermont and the Catskills.

I would look into places in Sullivan County in New York. That is the heart of the Catskill Mountains. Look for a place to stay near either Monticello or Liberty, NY.

Call The Sherwood Motel in Wellsboro PA. Lots of bikes stay there. Look up Wellsboro on Google Maps, and see where it is. Easy day rides to sights in PA, as well as Finger Lakes/wine country in Central NY. Google places like Kinzua Bridge State Park, Kinzua Dam, Letchworth State Park in NY, Watkins Glen NY, Hyner View in PA, Benezette PA to maybe see the elk if they're out, PA Grand Canyon, only 10 miles from Wellsboro, easy ride up to Sodus Point on Lake Ontario. Lots of stuff to see, and great roads around here. Easy walking to restaurants after you're parked at The Sherwood. Wellsboro's a busy little town, and you should have reservations --- especially for 4 or 5 days. If Sherwood can't accommodate, try The Canyon Motel. Also walking distance right in town, and also bike friendly.
