I have been in the area several times over the years. Went with a group in May and me and my neighbor went up this past weekend. I also like Foothills Parkway and Cherahala Skyway the best. We did a ride yesterday south out of Tellico Plains, 68 I believe, down to 64 then rode long 64 West to Hwy 30 back up to Tellico Plains. Very nice ride with lots of twisties.
Very good riding in area in general. Cherohala Skyway is a good ride. I tend to go thru the skyway to the dragon and then back thru it when I make my trips. VERY pretty this time of year. You can also see as much as a 20degree temperature change when your riding thru the skyway. LOL. Found this out the hard way. Took off and it was nearly 70-something where I was and when I hit the top of the skyway, i was shivering. I learned to carry a jacket next time. Also took the trip in November last year. Was comfortable(40s i would guess) when I started trip. But there was snow and ice up on top of the skyway. LOL
Next time you get the chance, take 64 east and see how you like the roads out that way. When I get me another bike, I'm going to start running the trails again and see what I can find for good routes.
I haven't been there yet. I will one day. You fellas who live close to those roads are fortunate. I'm sorta close to the Texas Hill Country. And sadly I haven't been on any of those roads on a bike yet. The four letter word gets in the way. Work, not wife. Haha.
During July of this year I rode the "Tail of the Dragon" in the Great Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. What a ride! 318 twisty turns in 11 miles. You can even obtain a photo of yourself in one of the turns. Bikes, sport cars and bikes. Absolutely gorgeous ride. Put this ride on your "Bucket List". It's a must!
Congrats on the TOD and welcome to the HDF from Gettysburg, Pa. We did that week trip in July and it was awesome.....The rattled was nice too, also devil's triangle was superb. Great riding.
