Sorry, I have 830 pictures on a SIM card and I have yet to do anything with them. It was a trip of a lifetime and I would recommend it in a second to anybody at least once. I will get some pictures up on this site.
Some quick points to consider. Stop at the cafe at the halfway point and have the pie. It was fantastic. Also try to plan an extra day around the halfway point for a rest. We stopped in Santa Fe for an extra day. It was just what the doctor ordered.
Glad the trip was great! A friend wants us to do the same thing. Having personally been the full length of US 66 in 1959, and several years since, I know these days there's not much left, and what is left is in short stretches here and there.
Is there a "list" of sections that still exist? How long were the stretches of "modern" roads in between the remaining sections of 66? In other words, what percent of your ride was on 66 and what portion on "other"?
I'm excited about trying this!

You are right. There is a lot of interstate only parts. As someone above said my favorite was Kingman to oatman.
Really enjoyed "standing on a corner in Winslow AZ" too.
Lots of books on the route 66 subject. We had 3 different ones. The best was a book that I will get you the name of. We met the author and he welcomed us into his personal museum.
Pictures next week I swear!

Good to hear it went well and can't wait to see some pics. Also like hacker said , the original road isn't there anymore or most of it. Will have to research the subject more.
I would love to see parts of it some day.
My dealer did this trip 3 months ago. It was fantastic. Did as much as we could and some sections I wish they hadn't gone on - REALLY ROUGH. If your bike didn't shake itself apart on that stretch, it will never come apart.
