I will ultimately do what my gut tells me to do, but.....
Two options: I have six days. Leaving from Minneapolis Oct 12.
Option 1: Ride down to the Ozarks. Southern MO and Arkansas. I have done this trip a couple times on bike, although I know there is much to be seen and by no means, have I "seen it all." Sourthern MO is within a one day haul (600-650 miles) to to get into the good riding. This will give me 3-4 days to do what I want in the Ozarks and ride all the lovely, curvy roads.
Option 2: Texas Hill Country. I have been to other parts of Texas (West TX, Austin, Big Bend, etc), but never in this specific area. It's 1200-1300 miles to Kerryville from Minneapolis. Two long days of riding there and back. Leaves me with 2 days to ride in this area.
I've ridden both and I live in Texas. But, I'd do the Ozarks over the Texas Hill Country. For a couple of reasons; one, it's closer so you get to the enjoyment sooner, two, it's a much larger area and the mountains are bigger and better than the hill country.
Riding the black hills would be a good option too...I am in love with those roads...
and going there without the rally going on, sure is nice
I agree with Roadblock on this one. I just got back from the Black Hills and they're great riding. Don't know if the weather has changed yet, it may be too cold now.

Been there twice this year...one time in June and one time during the rally...both were fun in their own way....
If you are going to AR, then i would reccommend staying at The Hub which is south of Harrison. Great location to use as a base camp. Peel ferry is in southern MO/northern AR as well. Visit AR website for LOTS of good route suggestions.
little late to vote! ha. C'mon down. Weather is perfect right now if you get between systems. "Arkansas Bucket List" thread talks about almost everything.
