If I remember it correctly starting from the east heading west the climb is more gradual and the switch backs are down hill. Coming from the west the clime is steeper and I didn't think the view was as good. But the views out there are all fantastic.

I've ridden it several times over the years and ride east to west. I guess because I prefer staying in Red Lodge vs Cody, and then riding in the morning with the sun mostly behind me. That early sun shining on that mountain country is amazing.

I have ridden both ways and I believe east to west is better. This way you are always looking a the mountain peaks. Both ways the road is great though

I've done it west to east and it was fabulous ... If east to west is better ( and it could be ) I'd have suffered from "sensory overload"
