My wife and I are taking this lap of Superior also, we are leaving from Stevens Point next Saturday, 7/9 and are planning on 7 days for the trip. I will try and remember to post up a few "must see's" upon our return.
Uncle's got it right, H-58 from Grand Marais to Munising is one of the best rides in the U.P. if not Michigan. Even with the exchange it is more expensive to eat, drink and sleep north of the border. There is also a place to stay in Marathon if you don't want to push from Thunder Bay to the Soo. The Copper County has some great rides from Houghton to Copper Harbor to the Porcupine Mts. (check out Lake of the Clouds pic). Of course I don't have to fill you Cheese Heads in on your own back yard, but I always enjoy the north woods of Wisconsin.
I'll be watching this. Last year i rode up that way but had to turn around as I forgot you now need a passport to enter Canada. Got it now and plan to return this year.
In a practical sense that is true but it is a US Customs rule. You need a passport to enter the US, so Canadian Border Services won't let you in without one because they know you won't be able to re-enter the States.
If you are going to go to Ironwood you should go to world famous Silver street in Hurley. Down to 6 six strip bars in one block, and bunch of other bars.
