Latest road trip. I just got back from a ride touring the back roads of the Dakota's. Since I met my goal of all 49 Continental States I switched to doing local roads in States. Last year I did Montana and Nebraska. The 6 day 3.8K ride did route 83 from the Canadian Boarder in N.D. and to the southern border of S. Dakota. Previously I have done 95 from Canada to Nebraska. The other local route was 281 which is the American Legion Memorial Highway. Since I am a past Commander of a Legion post I just had to do it. I started near the Canadian border and went to I-90 west of Mitchell.
Next ride will be to go back to the intersection on I-90 and go south to Texas. 281 goes from Canada to Mexico. In the past it was called The Old West Highway. It was a worthwhile ride. Along it in ND is an oil pipe line going in, Devil's Lake and a huge wind farm being staged to start. Several small towns with ancient building and store fronts.
For crisscrossing States on local roads I have finished Montana, Colorado, N and S Dakota, Florida, Iowa and Illinois. At 75 I don't think that I can get all 49 but I will keep going as long as I can.
