Milwaukee Visit
A little pricey but the Iron Horse is right by the museum and has a great bar/restaurant. The surrounding neighborhood is rough so walks at night are risky. The 3rd ward is also in the area if you are interested in arts and boutiques. The lakefront is also an attraction but it seasonal.

If you're thinking of next summer, Summerfest (http://summerfest.com/) is a must. The Domes and the zoo are also popular attractions. If you are a fan of Tolkein, Marquette University has the original manuscripts (great tour).

However, the County Zoo is awesome, as is the Milwaukee Public Museum. They have a "Streets of Old Milwaukee" exhibit that is not to be missed.
I agree about the Iron Horse. A great place in the summer, they also have a Bike Night in the front lot on a certain night of the week (Thursday?). There is a very popular Mexican restaurant on the other side of the traffic roundabout called Conejito's.
If you're a tavern goer, N. Water Street has quite a few top notch places, including a trio of Irish pubs called the Trinity. Stop at AJ Bombers around the corner for dinner. A little south of the tavern district on Water St, there is a small side road near E. Wells, called Front St. It's not easy to find (by design) but there is a place called "The Safe House". It's a CIA-spy themed bar and restaurant. It's a blast. Look up the website for better directions. You need to know the password to get in. If you dont know it, you have to perform for the hostess, which is viewed on camera, and shown on monitors at the bar. Sometimes you have to dance, or sing a song. There is a place south of downtown in the Third Ward called "Shakers" that has ghost tours. A little corny, but fun.
There is a casino and hotel about 10 blocks west of the Harley Museum, on Canal St called "Potawatami". It's okay, got it's pluses and minuses. There is a very nice high-end restaurant called Dream Dance inside. The casino floor itself is getting kind of ghetto. If you like seafood, there is a place on Canal St a few blocks east called the Twisted Fisherman.
The Harley headquarters is on W. Highland Blvd at about 38th. Juneau Ave runs parallel, a block north. I dont think there is much to see there, but it's worth a look. Be careful, the neighborhood is real bad within a few blocks, north and east.
When you go to the Harley Museum, try to arrange for a "Steel Toe" tour. They shuttle you up to the Pilgrim Rd plant, for a tour of the assembly line. Pretty cool. Also, they offer a 'back roads' tour of the Museum that shows you a large part of the collection. Get dinner at Motor and a few souvenirs at The Shop. They've got stuff that is not available anywhere else.
Any questions, I can probably help.
Conejito's sells pitchers of margaritas for cheap $. And they make a point of NOT putting ice in them, so you get more bang for your buck. There's also Great Lakes Distillery across the street, as well as Mobcraft Brewery on the other side. Not sure if Mobcraft is up and running, they were delivering the huge tanks when I was there in May.
I stayed at the Iron Horse and while expensive, it was a great great place.
Enjoy!!!!
