Bypassing Miami
Ride safe,
Thorey
Only use it from Route 29 to Krome/997 in daylight.
People make that mistake all the time when they read the history of the Tampa to Miami road thus called Tamiami Trail / 41 and fail to research the congestion and 100's of traffic lights.
The Route 29 suggested is rather rural and avoids that congestion and is mostly a 45 mph to 55 mph two lane road (one lane in each direction).
Tamiami Trail / 41 suggestion was from junction of Route 29 to Krome / 997 mostly a 45 mph to 55 mph road too.
That specific area is rural, everglades area.
Two lanes (one lane in each direction).
A daylight only road in my opinion due to limited services and possible animal encounters.
Other area's of Tamiami Trail / 41 are rather congested, high traffic area's as explained.
Other area's are OK for a quick connection but not for a trip.
On Tamiami Trail / 41 from junction of Route 29 to Krome / 997 there are about 60-65 miles.
There are only two traffic lights in that section...one traffic light at intersection of Route 29 (most times blinking red) and another traffic light at the intersection of Krome / 997 a real traffic light.
If you get stuck behind an RV or have a tail of traffic behind you in that specific area of Tamiami Trail it is possible to eventually pull over at a look-out or air boat for a moment and let them get far ahead of you.
Also, do not confuse Tamiami Trail section described with Alligator Alley/I-75 that runs parallel about 15 to 20 miles north of section described.
Alligator Alley/I-75 is an interstate with posted speeds of 70 MPH and is a high speed toll road with little to no gators visible but can be taken day or night.
