Damn, I feel like a slacker but too much to work on!! Had to get the Jeep to pass emissions & just put a new thermostat in today. Have had no heat for weeks?! Granted it's high 30s in the mornings but that's still cold for us!!
I was already riding this time last year, but it looks like it's going to be awhile before I get out this year. I need to get going on prepping for spring. The Limited needs tires and a 3-hole service. My Night Rod needs way more attention, but most of that work is beyond my capabilities, and I'm not too excited about spending $200 bucks an hour for labor. The Night Rod was my Dad's bike, so I hate to let it go, so I'll probably bite the bullet and have it repaired.
I ride my 2014 Ultra all year...........except this year. After a severe case of bronchitis in September I was coughing so hard I gave myself back spasms that persisted for 2 months Finally started feeling better in January and got sick again WTF?! Not a great Winter but I'm still alive and working on little things in the garage to get the bike ready for March riding. I did not "winterize" because it usually doesn't sit for more than a couple weeks. It's had half a tank of gas since September, battery died and tires probably near replacement. Replaced battery, started it and the bike smoked out all that dust.
Feeling better and looking forward to that first ride in 5 MONTHS!
I got both bikes out of the garage yesterday and rode them up and down the block...lol. I cleaned my garage and put them back inside. I decided to go to the HD dealership and get oil and a filter for the Ultra, as it was a few mile past due for an oil change. After doing said oil change and adjusting the tire pressures I decided it was time for a ride.
It was 57 degrees and sunny, but it was late in the day, so that wasn't going to last long, so an hour on the bike was just fine with me.
Nice! Spent the last 2 weekends installing new Pirelli Angels STs on my SV1000S by hand. That was alot of fun!! I don't think I'd even try with cruiser tires. But yes it sounds like installation prices have gotten ridiculous?!!
Heading out from Tucson to Death Valley NP tomorrow for a weeks trip. Promised my wife it wont be too hot but did get her a H-D cooling vest in case. She doesnt have the heat tolerance I seem to and gets cranky! Last time I was there was there was about 10 years ago on a ride from Tucson to Seattle in July. Temps hit 120+ in Death Valley but it was a dry heat 😉
Spent 6 days in Moab, in the Rubicon, with a buddy. We did a spur of the moment trip. He called me on Friday and said "lets got to Moab" and I said ok, see you in the morning. We drove our Jeeps out. Had a blast.
Yesterday I was able to get out on the Harley, it wasn't in the 80's like it was in Moab, but it was nice enough.
