Still hasn't snowed in north central Illinois, so no salt yet. Going to hit 50 tomorrow and hope to get in a quick ride to Starved Rock. Just have to get home before the deer come out.

No salt you say? Hell the roads around my parts are so white you'd think there was snow on them, nope just salt, lots and lots of salt.
I'd love a ride down through Starved Rock and along the Illinois River....but here I am ready to begin my work day.
It's only been about three weeks, but I'm starting to get the itch. I think I'll have to go to the dealership and throw a leg over a bike and see if that helps.
I got out on 12/24 for about 40 min. It was 35 degrees, and I got to try a new pair of heated gloves. It's snowed since then, and more is expected in a few days. It's also forecast to be around 0-5 degrees every morning for the next couple weeks.
I have a winter maintenance project planned for a warm day in the garage, otherwise she'll be parked for a while. Bummer.
Here in southern Ohio it hit 68 degrees today. Tomorrow will likely see 72. The problem is the roads are filthy with salt residue, sand grit and weepers (water seeping cracks) from snow removal. You wouldn't make it 4 miles from my house without seriously trashing the exterior of any ride. So mine will get backed out of the garage...fired up...and stroked.
I cant make it all winter with out a ride. I look for windows when the roads are halfway decent and I am off. Hose it down when I get home. A little white film on the tires is not going to stop me. I ride my fxr on nice winter days and I used to take out my wide glide on winter days but now she gets the winters off. I wash and wax my bikes like a fanatic. But I gotta ride. I am out there crawling under my pickup truck with the power washer a couple times a winter. Because I hate what salt does to a vehicle as much as the next guy.
No relief in sight here in NE PA. It's supposed to rain here for a couple days, but that may change to ice/snow by the weekend, and it's going to get a lot colder again. West of us and into Ohio is supposed to get some legit snowfall.
