Default Trailer Advice

What do you all think about this trailer? I know it needs to be finished, but I think it's a perfect answer to additional storage w/o hauling something large.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=006&sspagename=S TRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=16012335167 5&rd=1,1

Alternatively, I am thinking of a sleeper cabin; like the Rascal.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

My opinion: the most important item not mentioned in the ad or the manufacturer's web site is a swivel hitch. The ad states it comes with a 1-7/8" coupler but no mention of a swivel hitch/coupler. I believe you'll be at risk pulling this trailer with a motorcycle when you lean into a curve at any speed!

I bought a used Shoreline or CycleMate type trailer a few years back and I found a new swivel coupler on Ebay for about $75. The swivel bolted onto the tongue where the hitch couplerwas mounted and I was able to use the existing hole pattern.

You may want to review the info in this link; http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/dl648/dl648pt12.htm. The swivel hitch-coupler I installed looks exactly like the one in this link; http://www.dauntlessmotors.com/hitch-pages/hitches.htmand the two pictures on the right are similar to what my trailer looked like when finished. I guess supply and demand inflated the price as they are selling for $176.95 but my opinion is this device is mandatory for a trailer to be pulled with a motorcycle.

If you're anywhere close to Phoenix, Arizona my trailer is for sale as I bought a slightly used 2006 Bushtec Genesis in the spring of 2006. I'vepulleda cargo trailer with my Electraglide the last three years on my annual "Escape the heat" ride through the Rockies and into Canada. It's really nice to have the extra space for heated clothing, rain gear, hydration vest, food and beverages, etc., and taking time to wash clothes is not a requirement on a 7-14 day trip, it's an option.

Good luck!

I'm 'intrigued' about hauling (or having the option to) a trailer behind my 93 FLHS. I've thought about it fora number of years. And have done a fair amount of research on the topic. Burn up some bandwidth and search...There are a whole lot of mfg's of trailer and campers. I want the flexibility to either camp, or pack a bunch of 'stuff'. That's why I'm leaning toward the Bushtec models. I know, I know...They are pricey. But in this life, you get what you pay for. And Bushtec has been around for a long time. When I travel (especially when I camp), I like to take my comforts with me. It's dang tought to load the 'glide down with all of that, and the OL.

Let me know what you decide...Hell, you can buy a trailer and tow it with a bunch of different bikes. And they still sell paint...Right?

We are having a bike show in july and one of the vendors is a dealer for these trailers. He is supposed to be bringing a couple and I plan on checking them out and asking a lot of questions. I am sure the one on ebay is a lot cheaper than what this guy will want, but I am going to check them out.

Try this guy out...might be along the line of what your looking for! I have a friend with this setup and he really digs it! This trailer travels well behind the bike and has lots of storage! When he sets it up for camping he can fit a blowup double matress in the back of it! This thing is pretty slick!
Hope it works out for ya!
