Planning a ride for this weekend and I need some local information if anyone has it.
South of St Louis IL Rt 3 runs sort of along the river. At Miller IL St Rt 156 goes west to Harrisonville IL. From there the map shows a road called Levee Road. From Google earth I cannot tell if it is paved or not but it appears to run on top of the levee alongside the Mississippi River. Looks like might be a cool ride unless it is gravel.
Farther south (south of Outlet Road) I can tell it is blacktop but that 7 miles in between I cannot tell if it is gravel or blacktop.
So anyone on here have any local knowledge to share on this Levee Road?
Google Maps street view shows that it is blacktop for the entire way...best I could see. I think I took the bike on that road before. (I'm getting old and forgetful!) It was quite a while back...maybe 8-10 years, but it was fine for riding then.
I can not remember levee rd, but Bluff rd a little east of there is blacktop from Columbia south to modoc ,Il where you can pick up the ferry to missouri if you wish
Bluff Road is St Rt 3 and I have been on it a few times and I THINK I have been on Levee Road many years ago but I could be confused with a levee we road in Kentucky and Tennessee that turned to gravel on us and then almost grass!
