Goes without saying, but no drugs either!
We live near Niagara Falls. Great area to visit with tons of wineries and plenty of good restaurants.
Be sure to stop into Clare’s HD in Niagara while you are in the area.
A nice ride is along the river on the Niagara Parkway. You can take it all the way from Fort Erie through Niagara Falls, to Niagara-on-the-Lake.

We make the trip fairly often, and have never had an issue crossing the border. But, we have our passports, and no weapons or criminal records, so we never expect an issue
Old Quebec is one of my favorite places to visit, both Summer and Winter. The Winter Carnival is fun, but extremely cold.
You'll get more questions returning than going into Canada. But, just basic questions.

About 5 years ago I rode Canada from Detroit through Niagara and back into the US at Buffalo...and rode it back again. As everyone said in here, Passport, non-resident insurance card, and don't be a criminal...or have a weapon...or booze if I recall correctly.
It was my first time in Canada, and when I crossed the border I was immediately impressed. Gas was $1.25 and the highway speed limit was 100! Then I realized gas was $1.25 a liter (about $5.00 per gallon US at the time,) and 100 KPH is 62 MPH. It was like riding in a 200 mile long school zone.
Otherwise it was a great ride.

You didn't actually stick to the speed limit, did you? If you did I'm surprised you didn't get run over from behind!

Do a search on the Forum, this has been discussed at length. Pretty much everything above is correct. The criminal record thing can get sticky especially if you are riding with a group. They can bring up stuff from 30 years ago. Also, do not cross at the Falls, the line is crazy. There is another bridge about 15 miles further north, much easier crossing. Good luck.
