Beach, Bragg, Guns, Angles, Hogs & Rags
The weather was beautiful and we dropped our light jackets before noon. Stopped at the Eldorado Outpost in Uwharrie Mountains for breakfast. They have a tenderloin biscuit that is to die for!
Our next stop was to visit Jennifer and Jonathon at Village Pawn in Wadesboro. They own and operate our favorite gun store. They are nice people, bikers and have an excellent inventory and always discount, even more for cash! Well we purchased our anniversary presents to each other. We really like SIGS and the wife has. P238 and wanted another. We bought matching SIG Stands hers in P238 380 and mine in P938 9mm. I also ordered a Henry Evil Roy that I have been wanting to add to my collection.
We stopped at another favorite place and that is Shuler's Bar B/Q East of Bennettsville, SC for a Bar-B/Q Buffet which is very good.
The ride was good and little did we know the air show was coming to Myrtle Beach last weekend. Well we arrived just in time to see the Blue Angles practice Thursday afternoon for the show! WOW
We got front row parking near the airport and it was exciting. Dinner that evening as at Angus Steakhouse and Seafood for excellent Alaskan King Crab Legs!
We watched the sunrise on the beach Friday morning and headed North to Beach House HD followed by a short trip to Southport for lunch on the water at Fishy Fishy Cafe which has become a regular stop when in that area. Then we turned inland to Fayetteville where we stopped at Macs Speed Shop and registered for the Hogs & Rags ride for Saturday. Met several nice folks and visited awhile before heading down the street to Joes Crab Shack for more good seafood. Then we rode downtown to where they were having the Dogwood Festival. That was a great time, but turned in early that night. Saturday was an early rise.
Got up Saturday and headed to the Army Airborne Special Operations Museum for the Police escorted Hogs & Rags ride back to Myrtle Beach. We pulled out at 9 am for a short ride to Flying A-Ranch where they served us an excellent Low Country Breakfast. They have a long airplane runway and we all went to the end, turned around and lined up facing out for the next leg of the ride. Campers World had toy haulers on display, auto dealers had cars on display and the food was excellent! At that point I could count the bikes and it looked like a total of 277 plus there were a dozen cars following us including a Challenger Hellcat, Vettes, mustangs and even a Maserati plus a couple of Jeep Wranglers. We head out at 11 am with bright sunshine, 74 degree temps and a full belly!
There were three sheriffs departments, several volunteer fire departments blocking intersections, the NC Highway patrol as well as Myrtle Beach Police that allowed us to go over 120 miles none stop! We arrived at Wild Wings in North Myrtle for a late lunch and festivities. The food and service was GREAT, we sat with some really nice folks that also ride Harleys and enjoyed the fellowship with these guys. Im sure I sold a couple more sets of Pro-Action shocks! The promoters had all the drawings and gave away many awesome prizes including three long rifles, a pistol, very special quilt and a nice framed picture of the original Captain American chopper signed by Peter Fonda. The guy that won the 50/50 walked away with $1900 in CASH!
Well when this ended we high tailed it to the Airport and got there just in time to watch the finale of the air show which was the Blue Angles! What an awesome show. God Bless America!
We slept in Sunday and had the hotel room balcony door open all night listening to the ocean. Watched the sunrise and loaded up for home. We stopped at Johnny Ds for breakfast before leaving. They got waffles like you have never seen or tasted before, AWESOME. Then got home about 4pm Sunday afternoon.
My wife was VERY happy as I did all the planning and she really enjoyed it.
Thank you Lord for a wonderful wife, a Harley Davidson we both love to ride, the beautiful Carolina coast and wonderful roads and weather!
