Default BRP rough cut

Planning a trip in 2 weeks from Michigan to BRP and back. Rough cut has (all rough miles) 670 down to Waynesboro VA for the start. Ride BRP to Mt Airy then head south and east to Pinehurst (guess 300 mile round trip back to parkway) to spend day with my brother. Back up to the parkway and down to Asheville. We may or may not ride the end. That would be based on time and weather. We rode that end 3-4 years ago on our trip to the Dragon. then grab I-75 back to Michigan... 650 miles. add the rough 500 miles of BRP, we get somewhere around 2100-2300 miles depending on side trips. planning leave the 15th and, unfortunate for me, be back to work the 25th. We started this last year, but I tweaked my back and we chased hurricane Irma for the week and cut the trip short. I lost wheel bearing around Staunton VA....and see we will be back in that area to start this year!!! Thinking this is pretty doable... looking forward to it. only concern is I may have to get sick Monday and/or Tuesday???

I forgot to ask..... we had discussed running Skyline Drive, but I have seen several places they charge $50 for a bike to run this 120 mile section of road. What's up with that? Why the heavy charge? I have the lifetime National Park old man pass...will that get us in? Is the Skyline Drive worth the extra money? any comments, suggestions or ideas on this would be greatly appreciated.

A recent article published a decision by the National Park Service to NOT raise admission costs to parks based on consumer backlash. I recommend checking the BRP website for closures of certain sections due the severe rainfall on the east coast over the last week.

Just did Skyline drive last week, it’s $20.00 for a bike. Nice ride, it’s like the BRP with a 35 mph speed limit.

Skyline Drive is a good ride ... The Cops/Rangers are diligent on speed limit enforcement.

The national parks pass is good for the Skyline drive. I believe it covers 2 bikes.

Default Planning ?

Just planning a trip skyline and BRP. Do you have to have rooms booked after labour day? 2 couples just riding but getting confused about how many side trips to book and do you ride it all in one day?
Thanks Steve
