Default SD in September

Planning a trip to the Black Hills first and second week of September. Also wanting to hit the Beartooth Pass. Waiting then to avoid the crowds. Concern is the weather. Here in southern Miss we get two, maybe three days of winter, so cold and snow are foreign to me. Cold doesn't bother me, much. Got plenty of clothes. I have zero experience though on a Harley in the snow. What am I looking at?

You can have snow up there any day of the year on the higher elevations. Much will depend upon when a major cold front pushes down. One thing is it will definitely be cooler to cold weather that time of year.

You will probably by ok in SD but last year we left Yellowstone on Sept. 5th and a week later they got 12 inches of snow and i think the Beartooth was closed.

Last time I road Beartooth was two years ago following Sturgis. A week later I read it was closed a day for snow. This was in August. I will be there in about three weeks. Sturgis, then Glacier, then Yellowstone, then Utah, then Colorado, then...

It is definitely an awesome area to ride. I love Yellowstone.

Been to the BH the last 3 years first week of Sept without weather issues. Start out the morning with a jacket, short sleeves in the afternoon. Great deals on t shirts and everything else,

Buffalo Chip post pictures of snow in Sept almost every year. Usually just 2-4 weeks after the rally.

We made a couple Labor Day trips to the Black Hills and it's a great time of the year to be there.Cool mornings and nice afternoons. Traffic is not a problem that time of year.
