Yeah, that happens a lot out here. OP, weather out here in the Hills should be ok that time of year. Cool nights, warm days.
And tnriverluver.....FUAROCK.
Better bring that tactical wheelbarrow!!!! In the mean time I'm trying to decide whether to load up and head that way tomorrow??? Just don't know if I'm up to riding 2500-3500 miles over 6 days right now.

July 28, 2015... we had to wait at State line on Beartooth till bout 10:00AM for it to open because of ice & 3 inches of snow on the ground...but still the most beautiful place I've ever been. The elevation is the game changer & is NO joke. But even so, Totally worth it!! Don't see how anyone could could ride that & still say they are atheist.
It snowed in Yellowstone 2 weeks after we were there following Sturgis in ‘14. Last year, we had 4” of snow in Lake Tahoe on the last day of Summer, so, the longer you go at the higher elevations, the higher the chance of freezing weather.
You will probably by ok in SD but last year we left Yellowstone on Sept. 5th and a week later they got 12 inches of snow and i think the Beartooth was closed.
Yeah, I think that was the date. I had to delay start by a week and ended up getting there a week too late. I was an easy 1/2 day out and they were calling for over a foot the next day and I decided not to hang around. Turned out they were right. Kinda sucked. I should have blasted out there and futzed around on the way back instead of the other way around.
