Harley XA, based on a captured BMW during WWII. US Army thought so much of how well they handled the sand in Northern Africa, they wanted their own. HD basically did a reverse engineered copy, Indian did an even weirder rotated V-twin (think Moto Guzzi). Both used the shaft drive technology from BMW. That purple one was obviously civilianized after the war. Rare bike, I think they only made 1,000 of them compared to over 60k WLA's. Ugly as sin, but a cool story.
I remember seeing it in one of the documentaries about HD, just never seen one in reality.
