I don't know about the reservoir area specifically, but the general area is amazing. Not to mention, if "a few weeks" means peak leaf-peeking time, you will not be disappointed. If I recall correctly, Rt. 55 is a nice ride. Don't miss "downtown" New Paltz and a lunch stop at the restaurant [forgot the name] which sits immediately adjacent to the "rail-trail" which runs thru town. Another destination [especially if you want to get off the bike and hike a little] is Mohonk House. Have fun.
